DIRECTIONS:
You need to make three batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture – one Black and two Red. Add the food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture BEFORE adding the Rice Krispie Cereal.
- Black Layer (for the Santa Belt) – 3 Cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal)
- Red Layer (bottom section of Santa Coat) – 3 Cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal)
- Red Layer (top section of Santa Coat) – 6 Cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (6 Tbsp. Butter/6 Cups Marshmallows/6 Cups Cereal)
- Make the black batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture and allow it cool for a minute or two. Pour it into a lightly buttered large cookie sheet. Press down the mixture into the cookie sheet. It should be about 6″ wide. The height should be about 1″.
- Make the 3 cup batch of red Rice Krispie Treat mixture. Pour into the cookie sheet. This strip should be the same dimensions as the black strip.
- Repeat the process with the second 6 cup batch of red Rice Krispie Treat mixture. This strip should be the same width and length as the first two but should be twice as high. Allow the three strips cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Remove the Black and Red Rice Krispie Treat strips from the cookie sheet and stack them. The short red strip on the bottom, black in the middle and the taller red on the top.
- Slice the Rice Krispie Treat loaf into 1″ slices.
- Cut the slice in half.
- Trim the edges a bit so you have an even rectangle.
